Teachers log, day 2 and 3.

The children on Day 1 and the team.

Hello and thanks for reading this blog article of our Romanian Adventure.

Day 2 started off with our first day of teaching, we had originally planned to have this day as a preparation day however the children from the Roma community were so keen to come here to learn and play that we started a day early!

We started off the day by learning some of the children's names, using one of our two translators -
Ana or Liviu to help us talk to the children. The children worked really hard on their badges and had lots of fun making them. We played some simple games, like simon says, however we changed it to whom ever was "simon"  - we used the Romanian for Says which is spune, Alex spune! Lots of fun again! Following that we had a water fight!

(I can only upload my photo's currently as the other missionary members have not brought the USB leads for the computers.)

Day 2 finished with the children singing some christian songs and getting a ride in our mini-bus back 10 minutes up the road to the Roma community, some of the children stayed behind to play in the garden whilst waiting for their Rugby club to start at 7.

Out here we have found that the larger meals or cooked meals are served at Lunch time around 1pm, today it was a strongly flavoured rice dish? Similar to Risotto, with some spicy local sausauges, very flavoursome!

Day 3:
Our first full day started with a team meeting at 8, the children joined us at 10 am, the children had a lovely breakfast made by Helena, cheese and meat sandwiches, yummy. This was followed by some English Christian songs, such as Our God is a Great Big God, God is Love, the children and Romanian adults then lead a couple of Romanian Christian songs.
Alex's English lesson, Ana is translating (stood at back).
Following this we had a puppet performance by Ben and Amelia from our team. The children enjoyed the puppet show which was translated into Romanian, the message of the puppet show was to introduce our theme for the day which is the Parable of the Lost Sheep. Following a short video showing the story, which was read and translated to the children we had an English lesson. The children began learning the English alphabet, doing some simple phonics and phonics games before counting to 20. We had a real mixed ability some children could count to 30 and could recognize numbers, but some
couldn't count to 5, more often that not the older children (15-18) had lower English understanding that the younger children.

Mr Hustler's English lesson with Livui...A is for Apple...

Thats a brief update, check back soon!
