Since Christmas we have been learning about three explorers
from history (Sacagawea, Christopher Columbus and Robert Falcon Scott). This
built on prior knowledge of Neil Armstrong who they learnt about in Year 1.
Over half term, we would like the children to
create a poster about a new explorer such as Vasco da
Gama or Mary Kingsley. Children will be
expected to share their posters during show and tell the first week back.
We are also starting a different
approach to spelling homework. We are hoping the children will learn a whole
sentence instead of individual words, meaning they will have to remember
capital letters and full stops.
Here is the first sentence, it may seem
a little easy but it will get children used to the routine:
The children baked a great cake.
