The Lonely Beast.

In Year 2 this week our writing opportunities have come from reading The Lonely Beast by Chris Judge.

We started by looking at a single picture, where a monster appears to be terrorising a city. We acted out the scene and thought about how the characters would be behaving and feeling.
Once we started reading the book we soon realised that the 'beast' was far  from the monster he first appeared!
After reading a little bit about his background and history we started to feel sorry for him and once we got into character we wrote diary entries as if we were the beast at different stages of his story.

By Friday, we knew The Lonely Beast so well that we were able to write a character description all about him:
Next week we will be creating poetry all about some of the animals that the beast encounters on his journey to find friends.

This week's spellings are:
after / fast / past / last / father / class / grass / pass / plant
