Chinese New Year

During the first part of the week the children enjoyed hearing a Chinese traditional tale and learning about how roosters lost their beautiful golden horns to a heavenly dragon. Then we all tried a few samples of traditional Chinese food and wrote adverts to convince other children to try them.

A brief note about spellings: We have reviewed the way we assess the children's spellings in school and as many children struggle with the pressure of weekly tests we will be trying an alternative approach. Rather than having spelling tests we will be hoping to see the children applying their spelling words in their main English lessons and written work. This will show an even better benefit of the children working on their spellings at home and will encourage them to make the link between spelling outside of English lessons and their day-to-day writing habits.

Thank you all for your continued support, the children are doing really well and have made fantastic progress. They are looking forward to sharing their workbooks with you before half-term.
