Visited by a real naval salior...

This week we were really lucky to be visited by someone who has been a real life naval sailor...
Issac's Dad!
The children were really interested in what life is like for sailors in the modern British Navy and were able to make a lot of clever comparisons/contrasts with life on board ships in the 1700s.

We got to see and hold a formal dress uniform called Number 1s. They were really heavy!

Very kindly, Issac's dad even let us pass around his service medal.

We said it at the time but once again, a HUGE thank you to Issac's Dad for taking the time to come in and talk to the children about his experiences as a sailor.
