Sir Harry Burrard-Neale

Chances are that your child is talking about some old man from the navy called Barry Neil or something.

It all started when an old bottle turned up in one of our classrooms with a message in it...

The message was for help convincing the navy to improve life as a sailor.

This made us wonder what was wrong with being a sailor in the 1700 and 1800, so we began our research.

Storms, floggings, weevils, rats, danger, the French, pirates, more floggings, climbing the rigging, poor pay, getting flogged again.

Burrard-Neale was an important man in Lymington, see if you can help your child to find out why...

Home Learning ideas will be uploaded during the next couple of weeks.
