Willow Sculpture with Roy Brown

Artist Roy Brown came in to school to work with the Year Two children to make a willow sculpture for our garden. On Monday we went out in groups to make an armature (the skeleton of a sculpture) for our willow snake.

On Tuesday we added a head with a long forked tongue and a tail to our snake and weaved in lots more willow withies to make him much more substantial. He was then placed under a tree in the sensory garden and fixed to the ground. All we have to do now is to think of a name for our snake. We would like to thank Roy Brown very much for teaching us how to weave willow and we would also like to thank Artsway who very generously funded this project.
