Wow, wow wow!
Casting your minds back to the start of this half term, I announced that this summer from August the 18th - 25th I would be venturing with my local church in Merley, Wimborne to Rashnov, Romania.
The community is Romani gypsy and are very poor, children are only allowed to go to school if they are clean and well presented however with houses not having running water and not being much more than a 'plastered' wooden shack, the children often do not attend school! I will be teaching for 5 of the days, from 7am until 7pm, the team and I will be providing at least 3 meals a day and focusing on English and Bible stories. A small portion of the team are completing some improvements to some of the houses, of which on my 2 days off teaching I shall be helping!
A HUGE THANK YOU!!!
In our year groups, we have raced to complete our 'loose change' collection tins, the children have enjoyed watching the pots fill up, ready for our coin snake building.
On Friday we finally built our coin snakes on the playground, divided into our year groups to compete. Have a look at the pictures! The children really enjoyed building our coin snakes but when all the coins had been laid out, the children had sat back in the shade, one year group stood victorious!
WELL DONE YEAR 2! Great work to all the Rowans and Junipers and especially all the parents and guardians at home whom dug so deep and gave so much! (Official figure still pending).
That's it,
2 more school days left.
See you Monday.
Mr Hustler and the Year 2 Team.
