Year Two have had 2 maths mornings with the Yr 3 and 4 children from Pennington Juniors in the last week.
As one of our activities we had a maths Olympics. This involved children running, jumping and throwing and accurately measuring their results. Above you can see some of the children doing the standing jump.
Congratulations to Niamh Barratt who is now officially the fastest runner in Year Two, running 50 metres in 11.0 seconds. It was interesting to see that the fastest three Year Two children were all girls. It was great fun measuring distances for the throwing and jumping events. We learned a lot timing the 50 m races, we used 2 stopwatches (well, stopwatch apps on the iPads) and found out how to find an average time if we had different results on each timer.
We have also used the data we collected in a 'data handling' lesson back in the classroom.
